Welcome to my web-site!

Over the years I’ve written on a variety of topics ranging from literary history and poetry to sports biography and criticism. I’ve looked at the lives and achievements of characters such as poet Ralph Hodgson, footballer Billy Meredith, boxer Jack Kid Berg and playwright Shelagh Delaney. I’ve produced authorised histories of sporting bodies such as the Professional Footballers’ Association and the British Boxing Board of Control. I’ve also written articles for a variety of publications including Blizzard, The London Magazine, The Footballer, When Saturday Comes, 442, as well contributed to radio and television programmes.

Here on my site I want to share ideas and arguments as well as provoke and engender discussion about sport, literature and writing.
